While on the roof of the old 1980s office building that occupied the site and taking in the dynamic view up Victoria Street, the Alchemi and Studio L team were struck by how much the view was reminiscent of New York City. This inspired the creation of the first development of true, New York Loft style apartments in central London. 

Studio L developed the conceptual brief for the architectural competition with the hope that a practice would appreciate and want to work with the one non-negotiable; the façade material had to be the antithesis of all the new build going up in that area. It had to be dark, handmade brick. Stiff + Trevillion answered the call and were appointed for the team's first collaborative project together.

The result consists of 57 apartments which feel authentic to the New York loft. Light filled, expansive spaces with 2.9m ceilings and 5m wide window bays and unique floor plates throughout make this development a one-of-a-kind in central London.

The oversized apartments range from studios of up to 800ft2 to four stunning three-bedroom penthouses, all over 2,500 ft2 and with dual views taking in several of London's most iconic landmarks. The development offers amenities such as 24-hour concierge, residents' gym, parking, a communal courtyard garden and an 8th floor sky terrace where residents can relax and enjoy southern panoramic views across the city.

In 2014, David Spittles of The Evening Standard Homes & Property section called 55 Victoria Street “Best for Design Buffs” and recently; the development won the prestigious RIBA London Awards 2017.
